Fox is teaming up two of the funniest guys out there for a comedic spin on their classic seriesThe X-Files.Adam ScottandCraig Robinsonare set to star in and executive produce the single-camera comedy,Ghosted, fromThat Awkward Momentwriter-directorTom Gormican. Gormican will also executive produce in addition to writing the script.

DeadlinedescribesGhostedas a “comedic X-Files”, which will see Robinson assuming the Scully role as a cynical skeptic, Leroy Wright, and Scott playing the Mulder of the piece as a genius “true believer” in paranormal phenomenon, Max Allison. The series will follow the mismatched duo who are “hired by the Underground Investigative Service to look into the rampant “unexplained” activity in Los Angeles — all while uncovering a larger mystery that could threaten the existence of the human race.”

FOX reportedly won the pilot “In a very competitive situation with a slew of buyer,” which is a good sign, becauseThat Awkward Momentwas pretty bad movie that squandered a great cast, and it would be a shame if a premise this delightful followed suit. Scott and Robinson have well proven themselves as two of the funniest guys on TV (not to mention their equally impressive comedic and dramatic work in movies), and their pairing promises a huge opportunity for a breakout comedy.

Ghostedmarks a reunion for the comedy duo, who previously acted together inHot Tub Time Machine 2. Between the two of them, they’ve got a solid resume of TV experience. Scott previously starred inParty DownandParks and Rec(and will next be seen in the HBO seriesBig Little Liesalongside Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman), while Robinson is aThe Officealum, briefly headlined his own NBC seriesMr. Robinson, and currently holds down recurring roles onMr. RobotandBrooklyn Nine-Nine.

What do you guys think are you on board for a comedy X-Files? Can Scott and Robinson possibly capture that will they, won’t they chemistry? Will they find as many ways to work “Alien DNA” into the dialogue as theX-Filesreboot? Sound off in the comments.
