Coming off the success ofThe Martian,Ridley Scotthas been hard at work on hisPrometheusfollow-up,Alien: Covenant, for the last few months. While filming wrapped late last month, the film doesn’t arrive in theaters for another year – exactly 365 days, to be exact – and 20th Century Fox is marking the reverse-anniversary with a new behind-the-scenes look atKatherine Waterson’s Daniels.
The film, which is described as the second chapter in a prequel trilogy, will help connect the dots between the somewhat convolutedPrometheusand Scott’s 1979 horror/sci-fi classicAlien. The film picks up some time after the events ofPrometheus, when a new team of space travelers happens upon what they think is an uncharted paradise inhabited byMichael Fassbender’s David. While early reports stated that the Prometheus expedition’s other survivor,Noomi Rapace, wouldn’t return for the follow-up, reports from the set have since confirmed that Rapace will indeed have a role in the sequel-prequel, we just don’t know the extent of that role.

Covenantalso starsBilly Crudup,Demián Bichir,Carmen Ejogo,Jussie Smollet,Amy Seimetz, andDanny McBrideand it set to arrive in theaters June 29, 2025. Check out the new behind-the-scenes snippet below.
Here’s the synopsis for Alien: Covenant:
Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in ALIEN with ALIEN: COVENANT, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with PROMETHEUS — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
