Many would argue thatAnt-Man & the Wasp: Quantumaniahas been the biggest misfire of the MCU’s Infinity Saga, along with other projects likeSecret Invasion. Not only was the film poorly received by critics upon release, but it also establishesKang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors)as the next feature villain of the MCU, an idea that has since been discarded. Most of the originalAnt-Mancast returned to star in the threequel, includingPaul Rudd,Evangeline Lilly, andMichael Douglas. Douglas recently sat down for an interview with Deadline, and when asked if he would do anotherMarvelmovie, the Hank Pym actor did not hold back on his thoughts about returning:

“I don’t think so. I had the experience, and I was excited to do it. I’d never done a green screen picture before. I did The Kominsky Method because I wanted to work with Chuck Lorre and try some comedy. But I’m enjoying my hiatus and enjoying my life. It was overwhelming running the production company and acting at the same time.”

Douglas also wouldn’t rule out a return to acting in the same interview, citing that he does plan on acting again“if something good comes up.”Playing Hank Pym both inAnt-Man & the Wasp: QuantumaniaandWhat If…?marked two of the last three roles, with the final one coming inFranklin, the Apple TV+ series that debuted in April last year. Marvel is gearing up production on its next major tentpole film,Avengers: Doomsday, which was recentlydelayed from May to December. While many would assume Douglas would have a role to play in the film, considering he was featured inAvengers: Endgameand starred inQuantumania, it seems he’s content to let this next era ofAvengersmovies pass him by. Some of Douglas' other recent projects includeGreen Eggs and Ham,Animal World, andUnlocked.

Michael Douglas Asked Marvel To Kill Hank Pym

As any Marvel actor has certainly become accustomed to, Douglas has been asked about future MCU projects sinceQuantumaniacame out in theaters. Last year, around this time, shortly afterQuantumaniacelebrated its first anniversary, Douglas also addressed his MCU future in an interview withThe Hollywood Reporter. At that time, he didn’t rule out returning to the MCU, but he did have one condition:Marvel kills off Hank Pym so he can be done. Many Marvel fans went intoQuantumaniaexpecting Hank Pym to be one of the characters on the chopping block, but Marvel decided to keep him as an option in the back pocket — one that will seemingly no longer pay off now that he’s done acting for now.

It seems Michael Douglas won’t be returning to theMCUanytime soon, if ever. Stay tuned to Collider for future updates on Douglas’ acting career.
