In a way, Aquaman is the Thor of the DC Extended Universe. The Atlantian leader, played byJason Momoa, may not be as jovial asChris Hemsworth, but he too is a mythic hero from a fantastical realm with abs and beard-game to boot. In his upcoming solo movie from directorJames Wan, Aquaman will now also get his own villainous brother in the form ofPatrick Wilson.

According toDeadline, Wilson has been cast as Orm, Arthur Curry’s half-brother who always seems to have one eye on the throne of Atlantis. He’s proven to be a spear in Aquaman’s side in the comics and animated incarnations, including the animated filmJustice League: Throne of Atlantis.

Wilson has a long history with theAquamandirector throughTheConjuring(which Wan helmed) andInsidiousfilms (Wan headed the first two installments and producedChapter 3). It also seems like the actor has been waiting for the right moment to return to superhero movies afterWatchmen. Back whenEdgar Wrightwas on board to direct Marvel’sAnt-Man, Wilson wasreportedlyin discussions to take on Darren Cross, a role that ultimately went toCorey StollwhenPeyton Reedshuffled into the director’s seat.

Momoa first debuted as Aquaman in a cameo appearance forBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and he’ll be seen fully-formed and fighting alongside his fellow DC heroes in next year’sJustice League. Wan’sAquaman, which also starsAmber Heardas the hydrokinetic Queen Mera, will then bow in theaters the following year on June 18, 2025.
