The new image comes courtesy of EW, along with new quotes from Affleck himself, who comments on Batman’s humanity as an asset in a world beset with all sorts of supernatural heroes and villains.Jeremy Irons, who can be seen alongside Affleck’s Bruce Wayne as perennial manservant Alfred, also shares his thoughts. One of the subtler but still interesting aspects of every newBatmanadaptation is how the actor cast to play Alfred will bring the butler to life; Irons offers up his own interpretation here.

As for Affleck’s thoughts on his version of Batman, here’s what he had to say in the pages of EW:
“Batman represents human beings, mortal men,” he says. “In a world of Flashes and Aquamen and Supermen, there needs to be that guy. It’s interesting that he became the leader of the Justice League in the books - I’m not sure how that will play out here - but his humanity is also an asset.”
While Batman’s humanity is certainly a core part of the story in his battle against the alien presence of Superman, one wonders if that trait will be carried forward into the two-partJustice Leaguemovies. It would make sense that Affleck’s Batman does end up leading that team since it primarily aims to prevent any harm coming to the Earth and its many, many human beings.
Irons, meanwhile, described his take on Alfred as follows:
“Alfred is a lot more hands on in our film that he has previously been. He’s a bit of a grease monkey, and he’s very involved in the decisions Bruce makes.”
Personally, I like this take on Alfred. Rather than just bring a tray of sandwiches to Master Wayne, I fully expect Mr. Pennyworth to be tinkering, maintaining, and repairing all variety of Bat-tech in the Batcave. You know, ausefultake on Alfred for once.
