Bean stars alongsideEddie RedmayneinBlack Death, the 2010 folk horror film set during the bubonic plague and following a young monk who is tasked with learning the truth about the carnage being wrought in a small village.Black Deathpremiered on Max at the start of the month, and the film has snuck into the #10 spot on the streamer’s rankings.Black Deathearned a 72% from critics onRotten Tomatoes, but general audiences gave it a 49%.

Dario Poloniwrote the script forBlack Death, andChristopher Smithdirected the film. As for Poloni, his work as a scribe onBlack Deathremains the most famous of his career, and the only other movie he wrote was 2006’sWilderness, which starsSean PertweeandToby Kebbell. He did, however, recently write two episodes of the History Channel seriesColosseum.
