We’re just over three months away from the release ofJames Gunn’sSuperman, and what might be the biggest superhero tentpole of the year just got an exciting new look. Funko has officially announced its first new lines of collectibles from the movie, including new Pops forDavid Corenswet’s Superman,Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane,Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor, and even Krypto.Krypto the Superdog made his debut in the first trailer forSupermanthat was released near the end of last year, and he is set to be a major figure in the film and potentially in the DCU going forward. Supermanis slated to hit theaters on July 11, and there’s no other movie releasing this year with as much weight behind it asJames Gunn’s debut DCU film as the creative head of the studio. Gunn previously helmedThe Suicide Squadbefore he took control and formed DC Studios. The DCU has already officially launched with the release ofCreature Commandos, the Max animated series that offered the first taste of what theGuardians of the Galaxydirector has to offer, butSupermanwill be the main course that sets the stage for everything that’s to come. While it has not been publicly announced, it’s believed that the future of theDCUis riding on the financial and critical success ofSuperman, which would prove that Gunn’s vision for the DCU deserves to be seen through in its entirety.
