The sequel toAlien: Romuluscould be making its way to our galaxy soon.Fede Álvarez, the director of last year’s acclaimed sequel, revealed that he will be busy in Europe with the production of a film this October. The filmmaker has stated thathis next moviewill be the next installment ofAlien, meaning that the story that viewers enjoyed last year will continue in the near future. No details surrounding the sequel have been revealed by the studio. While on the Marea Nocturna podcast, Alvarez revealed that he’ll be filming a project in Europe this fall for a project that will either be in “pre-production or production.”

Alien: Romulusintroduced audiences to Marie Raines “Rain” Carradine (Cailee Spaeny). The young orphan wanted to find a better life for herself, which is why she agreed to work on a dangerous mission that led her to the most dangerous creature in the universe. The crew of the Corbelan IV needed to steal fuel from an abandoned Weyland-Yutani station. Unfortunately for everyone involved,facehuggers and xenomorphswere already present on the ship, with every member of the crew now placed in mortal danger.

Alien: Romulusturned out to be a success for Disney. With more than $350 million earned at the global box office, it was evident that audiences are now willing to forgive the negative reception that metAlien: Covenantupon release. Combined with disappointing box office results, the negative reviews surrounding the last installment of the franchise directed byRidley Scottforced theAlienseries to stay away from the big screen for a while.

What’s Next for the ‘Alien’ Franchise?

Rain and Andy (David Jonsson) were still trying to reach Yvaga III by the time the credits rolled onAlien: Romulus. The human and the android had to survive against a dangerous hybrid back on the ship, but nothing will stop them from reaching their destination away from the Weyland-Yutani empire. There’s no telling what’s going to be waiting for them once they reach the planet that started their quest in the first place.

As if a theatrical sequel toAlien: Romuluswasn’t enough, a television series set in the world of the franchise will be making its way to Hulu later this summer.Alien: Earthwill tell the story of a young woman and a group of soldiers who confront the biggest threats in the universe after a mysterious ship crashes on our planet.Sydney Chandler,Timothy OlyphantandAlex Lawtherwill star in the television series that will bringAlienoff of the big screen and into the viewers' homes.
