Superman has his Fortress of Solitude, Batman has his Batcave, the Avengers have their new digs in upstate New York, andDoctor Strangeis getting the Sanctum Sanctorum. While Entertainment Weekly revealedmultiple first looks at the supernatural superhero filmin a recent issue, Marvel conjured up another sneak peek by way of new concept art.
In the comics,the Sanctum Sanctorumis the acting headquarters of Earth’s Sorcerer Supreme and is located at 177A Bleecker Street in NYC’s Greenwich Village. The outside looks like a townhouse, while past a veil of magical force on the inside are various rooms with various mystical artifacts. Not much is known about the MCU rendering of this locale, though the concept art fromMarvel.comlikely reveals Strange’s meditation chamber, and the large ocular window in the room is reminiscent of his Eye of Agamotto. Elsewhere in the Sanctum Sanctorum is what EW referred to as “The Chamber of Relics,” which houses the hero’s red Cloak of Levitation, among other things.
The Eye of Agamotto is perhaps the characters most important relic. Marvel’sKevin Feigeteasedthat the cinematic version “can be quite dangerous” in the wrongs hands with the ability to “screw around with time” and “manipulate probabilities.” His signature cape, meanwhile, gives the hero flight, while maintaining “a consciousness of its own.”

The story sees renowned neurosurgeon Stephen Strange discovering the mystic arts and alternate dimensions after a near fatal car accident.
