Surprise! There’s a new Netflix original horror movie hitting the streaming service in just a few days, and the first trailer has landed online. From writer/directorOsgood Perkins(The Blackcoat’s Daughter),I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the HousestarsRuth Wilsonas a young nurse hired to take care of an elderly best-selling author of ghost stories who has chosen to live out her final days in her beloved country home. As one might expect, the home holds many horrific secrets of its own.
This debut trailer is effectively creepy. It’s narrated by Wilson’s character with an odd rhythm while showcasing various imagery that looks to be a mix of hauntings, flashbacks, and hallucinations. And while the movie is only just now getting a trailer a few days before its release, it debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival last month, so it’s not exactly a “secret” film.
