Kevin Costner’sHorizon: An American Sagawas meant to be a four-part passion project — a sweeping, old-school Western epic told across multiple chapters. But afterChapter 1sputtered at the box office, the future ofChapter 2— and the franchise as a whole — is suddenly very unclear. And according to one of the film’s stars, even the cast doesn’t know what’s going on.
In a recent interview withScreen Rant,Unit 234starIsabelle Fuhrman, who plays Diamond inHorizon, admitted that she has no idea what’s next.

“No, I wish. I’m in the same boat as you. I really hope that we get to see the second one. I have no clue what Kevin’s planning, but he’s probably planning something. And, yeah, no, I’m a really big fan of the second film. I think it really captures so much more of the women of that time period, and what was kind of going on for them, more so than the first one, which I feel like sets up this whole world.”
Fuhrman also revealed that she hasn’t been contactedabout any upcoming work on the franchise, despite previously expected plans to continue filming the third installment in spring 2025.

“I really hope that people will see the second one when it comes out, and it gives us the opportunity to make the third one. But, right now, I’m starting another project, and I’m just hoping that I get that call from Kevin sometime soon. [Chuckles] It’d be great!"
What Went Wrong With ‘Horizon’?
WhileHorizon: Chapter 2has already screened for critics at festivals, general audiences haven’t had the chance to see it — and that might not change anytime soon. Originally slated for release just two months after the first film,Chapter 2was put on indefinite hold afterChapter 1made less than $40 million at the box office against its $50 million budget.
Costner reportedly financed much of the project himself, and despite his legacy in the Western genre, audiences didn’t show up in big numbers. Critical reception for the sequel hasn’t helped.Chapter 2currently holds a 54% onRotten Tomatoes.

Horizon: Chapter 3began production in 2023 but was shut down by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Costner had intended to restart filming in spring 2025 — which is fast approaching —but if Fuhrman’s comments are any indication, there’s been little to no movement. The fact that she’s already filming another project and hasn’t even been contacted suggests thatChapter 3may be on ice for the foreseeable future.
