Dana (Katherine LaNasa) waspunched in the face by a patient, and this was a game-changer for her. She states to Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle) that she won’t come back after her shift ends. In a new interview, showrunnerR. Scott Gemmilladdressed this storyline.Is Dana really not coming back for Season 2?
Gemmill explained toEntertainment Weeklythatwe can’t get too attached to anyoneonThe Pitt. Dr. Collins (Tracy Ifeachor), for example, leaves at one point in the season and is never seen again simply because her shift ended. The showrunner and writer revealed what kind of approach the series will have with Dana and reminded us thatthe next season will have a 10-month time jump, which means that a lot will be different. He stated:
“I think Dana – I think the thing about this show isyou should never get too comfortable with any one characterbecause the nature of the business and the world is that life throws things at you unexpectedly and things can change in a heartbeat. So I think when Dana leaves, she’s very intent on leaving for good. That’s why she takes her photos. That’s why she doesn’t admit to Robby whether she’ll be back Monday. And I think she has to take some time and think about things. And I would guarantee if next season took place the next day that she wouldn’t be there. So when we do come back, we’ll have to see. But she’s a trooper and that place is her home and she’s kind of like the den mother. SoI think it would be hard for her, difficult for her to stay awayas well. But when she does come back, I imagine she would be a little bit different.”
What Do We Know About ‘The Pitt’ Season 2?
The next season ofThe Pittwill follow the same structure as the first one: Viewers will once againwitness the 15-hour shift of Dr. Robbyand his team in real time. The new episodes are already in production, and Max plans a consistent release schedule for the series – meaning that they want viewers to always expect a new season around the same period. The series isslated to return in January 2026and will keep the 15 or higher episode count. We’re yet to know which cast members are set to return and who will join the cast.
The Pittisone of the most popular shows of 2025.If you don’t own a Max subscription, you will be happy to know thatthe streamer plans to release the series on network televisionat some point. But the long-term plan is to keep viewers concentrated on Max to keep those viewing numbers growing.
