Based on Batman’s “Knightmare” inBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, it looked like the villain ofJustice League: Part Onewould be Darkseid or possibly even Superman. However, a new report fromBirth.Movies.Death.says that neither of these big names will be the big bad of the firstJustice Leaguemovie. Instead, they claim that we’ve already seen the villain, albeit in a deleted scene that made almost no sense:
The scene featured a look at what could be Steppenwolf, and now BMD claims that the character, who is Darkseid’s uncle in the comics, will be the main villain ofJustice League: Part One. In the New 52 comics, Steppenwolf decides to invade Earth, which will require the full firepower of the new Justice League as well as bringing a certain Man of Steel back from the grave.

As BMD points out, Steppenwolf is a fairly blank slate, so there’s a lot thatZack Snydercould do with the character while keeping his hands off more popular DC supervillains. As long as Steppenwolf has interesting motivations, I’m curious to see what the character does, but hopefully his motives and range of knowledge will be more specified than Lex Luthor’s inBvS. Snyder has a long way to go in cleaning up the damage he did withBatman v Superman, and so hopefully Steppenwolf is a step in the right direction.
BMD also says that Darkseid will make an appearance inJustice League: Part One, but it will be at the end of the movie. Additionally, “The other DC solo movies betweenJustice LeagueandJustice League 2take place in realish time - ie,The Flashtakes place afterJustice League -so whatever evil plan Darkseid has will wait untilJustice League 2to be revealed.”

So what do you think of holding off on Darkseid untilJustice League: Part Two? Does using Steppenwolf as the villain forPart Oneseem like the right move to you? Sound off in the comment section.
