The CW announcedLegends of Tomorrowwill debut on January 21, but that’s not even the most exciting news. (See more premiere dateshere). Ahead ofthe two-episode crossover eventbetweenArrowandThe Flash, which acts as a precursor to this superhero team-up, a newLegends of Tomorrowtrailer has arrived. In our best look yet at the action that’s in store, Vandal Savage (Casper Crump) wreaks havoc across time and shows us the dystopian future that awaits if he succeeds in his plan. Plus, there’s a reference to a certain Kryptonian strongman and Caped Crusader.
The newLegends of Tomorrowtrailer rolls out White Canary, aka the resurrected Sara Lance (Caity Lotz), Firestorm (Victor GarberandFranz Drameh), Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh), Hawkgirl (Ciara Renee), Hawkman (Falk Hentschel), Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller), and Heat Wave (Dominic Purcell), as time-traveler Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) leads them on the greatest mission of their lives. It’s packed with new footage, including looks at an ancient Vandal, the team’s flying base, what appears to be an upcoming mission to the ‘70s, and some potentially nefarious plots by the two villains among the group. While all this footage is getting us pumped for the series to come, there’s one line Hunter speaks that’s particularly intriguing. “I’ve seen men of steel die and dark knights fall. You’re entire 21st century world will suffer.” This is undoubtedly a reference to the small-screen DC universe’s Superman and Batman. There’s been talk that the Man of Steel has been around in this universe, at least when it comes toSupergirl, which has been rumored to crossover withArrowandThe Flash. However,a recent updatemakes this now seem unlikely. We’ll have to see where this new series is taking us, but these name drops have our attention.
We’ll get a taste ofLegends of Tomorrowwhen the heroes unite on December 1st for theArrowepisode “Legends of Today” and December 2nd’sFlashfollow-up “Legends of Yesterday.”
