A couple of days ago, word broke that Warner Bros. Home Entertainment was about to release the inevitable ultimate Blu-ray collector’s setforThe HobbitandLord of the Ringsfans that would bring both franchises together in one nifty package. Indeed, said collector’s set has now been confirmed, officially announcing that theMiddle-earth 6-Film Collectionwill be released as a limited collector’s edition box set on November 1st. Moreover, for those that can’t break the bank, a theatrical collection is also being released.
Both sets feature all six films inPeter Jackson’sLord of the RingsandHobbittrilogies, but only the Limited Collector’s Edition includes both the theatrical cuts and the extended cuts of each film. That box set will also feature all previously released bonus content from both versions of the films, as well as an exclusive 100-page sketch-style book with replica The Red Book of Westmarch, and two original reproductions of watercolor paintings by acclaimed conceptual artistsAlan LeeandJohn Howe.

So what’s the damage? Brace yourselves: the 30-discMiddle-earth 6-Film Limited Collector’s Editionwill run you a whopping $799.99 at SRP. TheMiddle-earth 6-Film CollectionTheatrical Versions will be on sale as a 6-disc Blu-ray for a far more reasonable $68.99 and DVD for $35.99 SRP. Fans will also be able to purchase the theatrical versions on digital HD.
