‘Bedtime Stories’ Was One of Madonna’s Most Beloved Yet Most Underrated Eras
ThoughBedtime Storiesreceived critical success upon its release in 1994, the album is still widely considered one of Madonna’s most underrated ones, given how greatly her other releases and eras performed in both sales and critically. BeforeBedtime Stories, the singer first released a number of upbeat tunes present in her earlier studio albums, such asLike a Virgin,True Blue,Like a Prayer, andErotica. Compared to Madonna’s earlier provocative and pop-heavy album releases,Bedtime Storiessaw a shift in the singer’s sound. The album leans heavily on a more subdued sound, combining both the R&B and hip-hop genres. The album also saw the singer at her most vulnerable, thanks to its more candid and deep themes.
Serving as the pop icon’s sixth studio album, the 11-trackBedtime Storiesincludes singles like “Secret,” “Bedtime Story,” “Take a Bow,” and “Human Nature.” The release date for theBedtime Storiesre-issue has yet to be announced. You can check out the re-release’s teaser video down below:
