A movie remake of theSix Million Dollar ManTV series, aptly called theSix Billion Dollar Man, has beenin development a long time. If you thought it may become one of those Hollywood casualties, you’d be wrong, as today brings word that the film—which has hadMark Wahlbergattached to star for a while now—has an official release date.

TWC-Dimension announced the film is slated to hit theaters on July 06, 2025. While Wahlberg is confirmed to star and produce,Damián Szifron(Wild Tales), whopenned the screenplayis also on board to direct. Wahlberg’sLone SurvivordirectorPeter Bergwas once said to be attached to produce, however the press release makes no mention of Berg. Perhaps the filmmaker is busy with his other Wahlberg project,Mile 22, which also starsRonda RouseyandIko Uwais.

Based on his statements, Szifron has been a longtime fan of the property, which hopefully means he’ll do the remake justice. The story of theSix Million Dollar Manwas a series from the ‘70s starredLee Majorsas Steve Austin, a severely injured test pilot who is rebuilt stronger than ever with $6 million worth of technology. But, because it’s the 21st century, $6 billion is apparently more accurate.Stephen LevinsonandBob Weinsteinwill also produce.

Here’s the film’s official plot synopsis:

THE SIX BILLION DOLLAR MANis based on the classic television seriesThe Six Million Dollar Manand the novelCyborgby Martin Caidin. The story follows military officer, Steve Austin, who becomes part of a top secret government program after a horrific accident leaves him near death. With the help of cutting edge technology, Steve is brought back to life with extraordinary abilities, making him the world’s first truly bionic man.

Hopefully this’ll be a better showing of Wahlberg’s skills than the Dinobots.
