Amazon MGM Studios’sMasters of the Universemovie starringNicholas Galitzineisn’t due outuntil next year, but by the power of Grayskull, we now have our first look at one of the main setpieces of the star-studded fantasy epicwhile production is underway. New set photos shared online have revealed the gates ofCastle Grayskull, including the imposing jaw bridge that welcomes visitors into the keep. It’s one of the more iconic aspects of the legendary fortress, and the bridge itself, at the very least, is built practically with giant teeth rising on its edges. There’s a lot of work left to be done to have the castle looking like the mythical locale Skeletor and his minions long to claim for themselves, but the shots are an early preview of how the film will capture the full scale of the seat of Eternia’s power.
In addition to the toothy bridge, another image appears to show Prince Adam captured and lined on both sides by Skeletor’s forces. The long-distance shot doesn’t offer much clarity on what’s going on, but Skeletor’s ram skull-crowned Havoc staff can also be spotted, confirminganother signature armament from the serieswill be returning in live-action. These shots come just days afterMasters of the Universewasfirst unveiled to audiences at CinemaConin a behind-the-scenes featurette showing off the mix of practical effects going into recreating the world of Eternia and the costumesdonned by the cast of heroes and villains, from Galitzine’s He-Man toCamila Mendes’s Teela,Idris Elba’s Man-At-Arms, andAlison Brie’s Evil-Lyn. Under the direction ofBumblebeehelmerTravis Knight, the feature is shaping up to be a healthy mix of practical creations and movie magic in its efforts to finally bring He-Man back to the big screen.

Despite the familiar imagery, Amazon’sMasters of the Universewillreimagine Prince Adam’s talein a way thatsomewhat reflects the 1987 film starringDolph Lundgren. All indications are that the film will send Adam to Earth, where he’ll grow up before retrieving the legendary Power Sword and returning to Eternia to fight the forces of Skeletor. It’ll follow his journey to uncover the mysteries of his past and embrace the power of He-Man to save the day.Jared Letowill betaking up the mantle of Skeletorwhile the rest of the cast is rounded out bySam C. Wilsonas Trap Jaw,Hafþór Björnssonas Goat Man, andKojo Attahas Tri-Klops, among others.
‘Masters of the Universe’ Will Showcase Nicholas Galitzine’s Sense of Humor
After years of difficulties getting a big-screen project based on the Mattel toys off the ground, Knight’s second live-action feature is now moving full speed ahead, and the cast and crew are excited to take on Eternia. Galitzine finally landed the role after it was previously earmarked forKyle AllenandNoah Centineoin past potential iterations of the project, bringing a resume that recently included streaming hits likeRed, White & Royal BlueandThe Idea of You. According to his co-star Mendes, he also brought a great sense of humor that will play into his characterization of Prince Adam. When Collider’sPerri Nemiroffasked her at SXSWwhat made Galitzine’s performance stand out, she said, “I feel like if I were to tell you that, it would completely give away a huge plot point, but I think it’d be his sense of humor. He’s very funny, very talented, and very funny.”
Masters of the Universehits theaters on July 27, 2025. Stay tuned here at Collider for more information on the film as work continues. Check out the set photos in the link below.
