Matthew McConaughey Once Starred in a Civil War Movie

In 2016, just two years after he teamed up withChristopher NolanforInterstellar, McConaughey starred alongside two-time Oscar-winnerMahershala AliinFree State of Jones. The Civil War film follows a Confederate Army deserter who returns home to lead a militia of fellow deserters. The film is currently streaming on MovieSphere by Lionsgate, Fawesome, and Plex, but none of the major streaming services. It earned a “rotten” 48% from critics and a 64% from audiences onRotten Tomatoes, and it also grossed only half its $50 million budget at the global box office.
