When Disney purchased Lucasfilm a few years ago, we knew the studio’s plans would extend far beyond simply producing new films. Indeed, we learned last yearofficiallythat Disney iscreating some grand newStar Warstheme park attractionsin the form ofStar Wars Land(unofficial title), for which construction is about to get underway, and last night some new concept art was revealed that gives us a better idea of what to expect from the immersive experience.

New concept art was revealed during ABC’sThe Wonderful World of Disney: Disneyland at 60TV special, withHarrison Fordgreeting screaming Disney fans to unveil some footage that showed off Disney’s preliminary plans for the theme park addition. If this early concept art is followed to fruition, we can expect to see street markets, a cantina, and many moreStar Wars-themed areas in the new theme park addition, which will be located at Disneyland in California and at Disney’s Hollywood studios at Walt Disney World in Florida.

The new attraction is essentially Disney’s answer to rival Universal Studios’ wildly popularWizarding World of Harry Potter, which just opened in Hollywood following an immensely successful run thus far at Universal Studios Orlando.Star Warsis arguably the most popular IP on the planet, so the potential forStar Wars Landis huge, and I imagine the folks at Disney’s Imagineering are having a blast coming up with ways to transport fans into theStar Warsuniverse. The theme park attraction does not yet have a projected opening date, but given the scale of the thing, it will likely be a few years before we’re able to actually visit the park.

You can check out some low-res screengrabs of the concept art below (via/Film). We’ll update this article with high-resolution when the images become officially available.
