After theteaser trailerthat promised stylized backwoods insanity, WGN America has release a full trailer for their new Appalachia-set fringe society drama,Outsiders. Created by award-winning playwrightPeter Mattei, the series plays on the tradition of the biker outlaw gang and follows the Farrell clan, a rugged family of mountain-dwellers who have thrived in the outskirts of society for 200 hundred years. Deeply engrained in their way of life, the Farrell’s find their lawless society at odds with the law itself when the government comes knocking on their door with an eviction notice.
As I’ve said many times on this site, WGN’sManhattanis one of the best shows you’re not watching, and withOutsiders, the network has lined up another excellent cast for an idiosyncratic concept that seems to have a lot of passion and vision behind it. It’s got a realSons of AnarchymeetsDeliverancevibe and is one of the shows I’m most excited to see debut in 2016.
