The good folks at Blizzard have unveiled whatOverwatchfans can expect with the new Luna New Year seasonal event Year of the Pig. TheOverwatchLunar New Year skins have a bit of a theme to them, as Reinhardt, Zenyatta, and Hanzo all have great, big bushy beards in these fancy new duds.
The available skins and items are tied to the Lunar New Year-themed event, which celebrates the Chinese New Year for the Year of the Pig. Available legendary skins include Lü Bu Reaper, Guan Yu Reinhardt, Zhuge Liang Zenyatta, Hong Gildong Tracer, Zhang Fei Torbjorn and Huang Zhong Hanzo, while the epic skins are for Sanye Orisa and General Brigitte.
In addition to the skins,Overwatchplayers are able to enjoy a festive Capture-the-Flag version of Busan, as well as previous Lunar New Year maps for Ayutthaya and Lijang Tower.
These skins are great, and I love the idea of a Capture-the-Flag version of Busan, but I do have to admit I’m a bit bummed that it’s been so long without a new arcade game. The Halloween and Christmas-themed events both simply brought back the previous versions of those seasonal games with a couple of map upgrades, and it’s been a long while sinceOverwatchreleased a new gameplay tied to a seasonal event.
That said, I suppose I’m being a bit greedy given thatOverwatchreally is the game that keeps on giving. Fans have been treated to a bounty of new players, modes, skins, and maps since it was first released, all without any added cost, and I still contend it’s one of the best bang-for-your-buck games out there.
