Former 007Pierce Brosnanis headed to the small screen for a new series from AMC calledThe Son, in which he plays “The First Son of Texas” Eli McCullough. Set in the old West, the tale won’t be told until 2017, but the network offered a first look in the former of a trio of teaser trailers. Seeing Brosnan in this setting brings to mind imagery from his 2006 filmSeraphim Falls, in which he co-starred withLiam Neesonabout two former Civil War army men with a grudge against each other....

With a teaser trailer coming out tomorrow, Illumination’s new animated film,Sing 2, has unveiled new character posters showcasing the animated animal stars of the film. Buster Moon, voiced byMatthew McConaughey, and his all-star cast of performers, will launch their most dazzling stage extravaganza yet. However, on the way, they will first need to convince a reclusive rock star to take the stage with them. The originalSinggarnered massive success upon its release....

TBS has released the first images from their upcoming TV series adaptation ofSnowpiercer. Created byGraeme Manson(Orphan Black), the upcoming series starsDaveed Diggsas Andrew Layton, an ex-detective who’s recruited by the train’s authorities to track down a killer. “Layton is a resident of the tail, which is the lowest class all the way at the back of the train,” Diggs tellsEW. “But he becomes useful for people uptrain.” DirectorJames Hawes(Black Mirror) doesn’t want to classifySnowpierceras a “political show”, but does note, “It is adventure storytelling....

As one superhero joinsTom HollandinSpider-Man: Homecoming, another drops out.Robert Downey Jr.was revealed toreprise his role of Iron Manin the joint Marvel-Sony effort coming to theaters in 2017, but now word is thatMichael Keaton, once courted to play a villain role, has dropped out ofdiscussions. The casting update comes fromDeadline, and it would’ve been an interesting choice given how Keaton made a name for himself on the DC side inTim Burton’sBatmanbefore making a comeback inBirdman, about an aging actor doing the same after headlining a superhero movie franchise....

Sony Pictures announced that theSpider-Man: No Way Hometrailer has broken the 24-hour all-time record for most global views, previously held byAvengers: Endgame. According to Sony, the trailer has also generated the largest 24-hour global social media conversation volume of all time. If that’s not anAvengers-level achievement, we don’t know what is. No Way Home’s trailer came out on August 23, unleashing the Multiverse and shattering Peter Parker’s (Tom Holland) reality, which would already be reason enough for the buzz....

Major casting has begun onStar Wars: Episode IX, and we now have the first major addition.Varietyreports thatKeri Russellhas signed on for an unknown role that calls for “action-heavy scenes”, but it’s unknown if she’ll be Resistance, First Order, or unaffiliated. Russell previously worked together with directorJ.J. Abramson the 1998 drama seriesFelicityand later on Abrams’ feature debutMission: Impossible III. She’s also no stranger to roles that call for action having put her chops to the test in not onlyMission: Impossible IIIbut also her acclaimed performance in FX’sThe Americans....

CouldThe Matrix 4start filming again by July? It looks like Warner Bros. has hope for the paused production of their highly-anticipated sequel to the groundbreaking sci-fi trilogy. Per Variety, the castmembers have signed 8-week extensions that will keep the actors on hold for the production until at least July 6. The sequel seesLana Wachowskireturning to write and direct, and Warner Bros. kicked off filming back in February in Sanfrancisco before packing up for a Berlin shoot in mid-March....
