All the games in the franchise take place in a future where humanity was almost wiped out by a nuclear holocaust, as players take control of a warrior trying to survive in the apocalypse. The image shows some people inside a metal structure looking at the light that comes in through a round door....

It lures you in with its premise of a lesbian couple needing to pretend their straight over the holidays so that the more conservative family won’t raise any fuss, so you think, “Ah, well, it’s set during a cheerful time, there’s a big secret, I assume there will be lots of farcical confusion as they attempt to maintain this ruse,” and instead DuVall and co-writerMary Hollandhit you with a far more thoughtful story about what it means to accept another person, not just in terms of their sexuality, but for all the baggage they bring with them....

Back in May of this year, I somewhat savaged the release of the mobile gameHarry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery. I wasn’t alone in my criticism of the game, which opted to limit how much fun, magic, and mystery players could enjoy before running into a paywall or a time-limited energy-generation mechanism. But I have a confession to make … despite my early irritation with the game, I’ve been playing it ever since, almost daily....

The highly popular and influential anime and film seriesMacrossis finally set to be officially released worldwide for the first time, resolving decades of legal battles. You can see the influence ofMacross, or its American remakeRobotech, in everything fromStar Wars RebelstoGodzilla vs. Kong, and now fans will finally be able to experience the original franchise. This week, it was announced in a press release that advertising conglomerate Big West and American company Harmony Gold had finally reached an agreement, which “immediately permits worldwide distribution of most of the Macross films and television sequels worldwide,” but doesn’t specify what titles will be available, or where....

For all the praise — deserved, over the top, and everywhere in between — that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has received since its inception, one aspect of the decade-plus spanning franchise that has been the subject of rather intense scrutiny has been the quality and consistency of the MCU’s villains.
