2024 has been quite the year for television. It has seen the release of many TV shows and the cancelation of many others. Some shows have even been released and canceled within months, which is an unfortunate reality of show business. A lot of these shows have been terrible, unremarkable, or just not very popular, while others, naturally, were pretty good. But perhaps the most notable events happening are the cancelations or conclusions of some beloved shows that have been up and running for a couple of years now, across a multitude of genres....

One of my favorite films of 2020 wasRegina King’s fantastic directorial debutOne Night in Miami. Based off the award-winning play of the same name byKemp Powers,the film imagines a fictional night in 1964 where Muhammad Ali (Eli Goree), Malcolm X (Kingsley Ben-Adir), Sam Cooke (Leslie Odom Jr.), and Jim Brown (Aldis Hodge) discuss race, religion, and their personal responsibility to the civil rights movement. Loaded with some of the best performances you’ll see in a movie this year, I cannot recommend this film enough....

While Marvel Studios chiefKevin Feigeand his team brainstormed the MCU at large, Favreau’s direction onIron Manplayed a huge role in establishing the foundation of that universe’s tone, and introducing audiences toRobert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man – arguably Marvel’s MVP as the character whose arc audiences have followed the longest, through three solo films, two Avengers team-ups, and the upcomingCaptain America: Civil War....

On-screen parents starring alongside their real-life children can produce character connections that are deeper due to the relationships they have off-screen. Either famous people cast their child in their film to make it more meaningful or emotional, or a kid chooses to work with their parent out of respect for their art and a desire to collaborate. But no matter how they decide to team up, parent/child collaborations are often some of the best on-screen relationships....

However, the film’s 38% critical rating is juxtaposed by its audience response, withThe Alto Knightsofficially earning an impressive 70% audience score on the site....
