Epix has released the first teaser trailer for its upcoming drama seriesPennyworth, which will give Bruce Wayne’s butler his own origin story. The 10-episode hourlong series will pick up with Alfred (Jack Bannon,The Imitation Game), fresh out of the British SAS, forming his own security agency in 1960s London – an agency that catches the attention of a young American billionaire named Thomas Wayne (Ben Aldridge,Fleabag).
The series comes fromGothamalumniBruno Heller(serving as an EP and writer) andDanny Cannon(also executive producing as well as directing), so you know it’s going to be suitably bonkers. A hint of that is given in this short trailer, which includes a very seductive Queen Elizabeth. (I mean, we knew this was going to be Hot Alfred Who F–ks, but theQueen?!) It all looks extremely mod and stylish, and of course finally gives Alfred the centerstage … although the Wayne family still looks to be heavily represented.
In addition toBannonandAldridge, the series' cast includes UK recording artistPaloma Faith,Jason Flemyng(The Curious Case of Benjamin Button),Ryan Fletcher(Outlander),Hainsley Lloyd Bennett(Eastenders),Emma Paetz(Gentleman Jack) andPolly Walker(The Mentalist, Rome).
