Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearlare off to a great start since their release in November. The holiday sales are spiking, with the remakes accumulating over 6 million sales, and that’s the global number. It also matches the worldwide sales figures ofPokémon Sword and Shieldback in 2019.
In a gaming world full of remakes, it’s nice to see the nostalgicPokémonremakes be just as successful as the new installments in the series, despite initial mixed reception. When theDiamond and Pearlfirst launched on the Nintendo DS back in 2006, it not only introduced new Pokémon but new features to the usualPokémongameplay, with its use of the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection and changes to battle mechanics and Pokémon Contests - remember those days?

The story overall followed the same story as its counterparts: a new Pokémon trainer works to become the League Champion by catching and training Pokémon. But on top of it all, the trainer has other things to do in the story, like stopping an enemy from using Pokémon for evil deeds, such as creating their own personal universe and destroying the main one in the process, you know, the usual everyday mischief.

No doubt that a game specifically tailored for the Nintendo DS will suit the company’s current Switch console just right for players who “gotta catch ‘em all” - I had to fit that reference in somewhere.
Now an old and new generation alike get to relive the experience in its updated form. With sales figures already skyrocketing, results reported after the holidays are said and done are bound to be much higher. Either way, the remakes have already achieved a successful launch. Now it’s up to fans to decide whether it was worth it.Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearlare currently available to play on Nintendo Switch.
