On July 7, theBeatlesdrummer celebrated his 85th birthday in his Los Angeles home with family and very famous friends such asJoe WalshfromThe Eagles,Jackson Browne,Lucius, and, of course, his wife of over 40 years, Bond girlBarbara Bach. They even FaceTimed another Beatles legend,Paul McCartney, who sent his love from a distance. Starr was all smiles as he watched his friends' live performances at the semi-public event, including performances of hisBeatlesclassics, “Yellow Submarine,” “Octopus’s Garden,” and, of course, “With A Little Help From My Friends.” But what fans watching (and probably many of the attendees) didn’t know is that the Beatle had a secret announcement planned.
Ringo Starr Announces New Album After 85th Birthday Celebration
As fans might have heard,McCartney recently announced a North American tour, and much like his fellow Beatle, Ringo Starr is not slowing down. A few weeks after his birthday,Starr posted a video on his Instagramaccount thanking fans for their lovely messages on his birthday. He shared a compilation of videos people sent him from around the world chanting his mantra, “peace and love,” and then made a huge announcement regarding his career.
In January this year, Starr released a country album titledLook Up,and just a few months later, he revealed he’s already working on a new album. He jokingly called it “Look Up 2,” but while he clarified that it wouldn’t be called that, that joke hinted that it would be another country album. He added that he would be working with producer T Bone Burnett on his next project, who also producedLook Up,and while he didn’t reveal a release date, fans are hopeful that this announcement means it will be soon.
But Ringo Starr is not just recording. He’s also going on tour in September. He and his All-Starr Band will be touring the United States, and he added a few snippets of his recent live performances on the Instagram post. The way he runs around on stage in his 80s proves that he won’t be slowing down anytime soon.Paul McCartney’s North American tour starts in September, and considering that Starr joined him on stage last year for the last show of his Got Back tour in London, it would be a treat for fans if the two legends decided to share the stage again.
