One of Disney+’s most enjoyable and binge-worthy period dramas will return for another season, and, of course, fans just can’t wait!Rivalswas renewed for a second seasonlast December after a successful debut in October. Now, months later, we have a promising filming update about the new chapter thanks to series starDanny Dyer, who portrays self-made businessman Freddie Jones, also residing in Rutshire. Keep in mind thatSeason 2 ofRivalsstill has no premiere date yet.
Earlier this week, precisely on Tuesday, March 25, the Royal Television Society Programme Awards took toTikTokwith a video of Dyer and co-starKatherine Parkinsonsharing exciting news about the production ofRivalsSeason 2. Dyer said:
“We’re on the eve of starting the second series, so the old ‘tache is on its way back. I’ve got a better wig which I’m excited about. [The first season wig] was a wig out of a bag, and I’m sure Jill won’t mind me saying that, so, they’ve invested a bit in the wig. I love the wig, by the way.”
Parkinson also voiced her love for “the wig,” adding, “I’ve always loved that wig, I never didn’t believe that wig, but you know it’s the second series, so he’s had some more money spent on him.” This comes not long afterDominic Treadwell-Collinsconfirmed that thewriting forRivalsSeason 2was officially in progress. He wrote on Instagram on January 30, “Script meeting. #Rivals2.” Alongside the text was a photo of himself and his fellow executive producers, includingFelicity BluntandAlex Lamb, posing with a cardboard cutout of lead starAlex Hassell.
There’s Not Much to Know (Yet) About ‘Rivals’ Season 2
Little to no details have been revealed aboutthe sophomore season ofRivalsbesides what you’ve already read above. However, for the cats, fans can expect almost everyone back except announced otherwise in due course. This includes Hassell, Dyer, Parkinson,David Tennant,Aidan Turner,Victoria Smurfit,Nafessa Williams,Bella Maclean,Claire Rushbrook,Emily Atack,Catriona Chandler,Oliver Chris,Rufus Jones,Lisa McGrillis, andLuke Pasqualino.
As forthe plot of the new season, while there are no specifics, viewers have already seen that Tony’s (Tennant) fate was the only one left up in the air in the first season, so that definitely has to be resolved when the black comedy returns. Adding Treadwell-Collins in an interview withTV Insider:
“There are so many possibilities about what could happen, but what we do know is revenge is a dish best served on television.”
