How Successful are the ‘Scream’ Movies?

Scream 7should take the franchise beyond the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office, following remarkably consistent returns since its 1996 bow. The original earned an impressive $173 million globally, followed closely byScream 2in1997, which brought in $172 million worldwide.Scream 3hit theaters in 2000 and grossed $162 million globally.

Scream 4proved to be the franchise’s outlier, pulling in just $97 million worldwide. Its very meta storyline may have arrived a bit ahead of its time, and it went to sleep for a decade. However, the franchise made a triumphant return with 2022’sScream, raking in $139 million on a modest $24 million budget. Its sequel,Scream VI, released the following year, became the highest-grossing entry sinceScream 2, earning $169 million worldwide
