The first season of the spinoff show,Suits LA, is gradually inching towards the finish line. While the show might have struggled with ratings so far, it does feel good to be back in the world ofSuits, with well-dressed and exceptionally brilliant lawyers. While the original series hadSarah Raffertyplaying Donna Paulsen, secretary and confidante toGabriel Macht’sall-conquering New York lawyer, Harvey Specter. The spinoff has its own version of that dynamic, with series lead,Stephen Amell’s Ted Black, having his back watched by his secretary, Roslyn, played byAzita Ghanizada. Just like with Donna and Harvey, Roslyn seems to know everything there is to know about Ted, and the pair work seamlessly.
Knowing when to share and withhold information while choreographing Ted’s life and firm from behind the scenes, Ghanizada’s Roslyn is the invisible hand that steers Black & Associates. Speaking in an interview withScreen Rant, Ghanizada discussed the dynamic shared between Ted and Roslyn. The pair obviously have a history, so will we see that dynamic continue to grow? “Yeah,I think we owe it to the relationship, I think we owe it to the audience, and I think people want to know,” Ghanizada says to the outlet. “A lot of that work that you asked about,I think a lot of that happens off screen. In Episode 6, we’re in this criminal trial, we started with such a bang, losing the firm.”

While Ted and his impromptu second chair, Amanda Stevens (Maggie Grace) battled things out withLester’s (Kevin Weisman) trial.Much of the daily running of Black & Associates fell to Roslyn. Ghanizada reveals that while she helps Ted steer his ship, she will equally be there to hold him accountable when the need arises. The actress' comments read:
“Roslyn’s really doubled down on trying to, and not that she’s named one, butbeing an officer of the company and keeping the company afloat, keeping things going while he is so distractedwith so many different layers. And so I think that while that stuff heals and settles, you’ll see how she is a mirror to him for his best self and his worst self. That’s really what will happen between the two of them in coming episodes.”

Suits LAhas made it halfway through its first season already, butthe spinoff still suffers in terms of ratings. The show has tried a couple of things, including bringing on celebrity guest appearances from bothThe OfficealumBrian BaumgartnerandPatton Oswaltin a previous episode. While those might not have moved the needle much, Harvey’s return did provide an uptick in ratings. With other original stars inRick Hoffman as corporate finance attorneyLouis Litt andDavid Costabile as the cunningDaniel Hardman returning, the show could close out strong.
