Updates on the status ofBravo’s hit reality seriesThe Real Housewives of New Jerseyhave been few and far between as the production hiatus over casting issues continues. The chaos from a disjointed Season 14, where sisters-in-lawTeresa GiudiceandMelissa Gorgastood completely divided, forcing the other women to choose sides, has resulted ina complete road blockmoving forward. Many viewers cannot envision a world whereRHONJmoves ahead without its leading lady, Teresa. And yet, there are many loyal fans of the franchise who continue to point out that, love her or hate her, but Melissa is not the problem in Jersey.

So when I heardGia Giudiceand her mom chatting about the franchise on Teresa’s podcastTurning the Tables, I perked up. Gia and Teresa concluded thatRHONJis the most toxic of theReal Housewivesfranchises, and I couldn’t agree more. Where my opinion differs from theirs, however, is the cause.

Gia Is Right, ‘RHONJ’ Got Too Toxic

In her appearance onTurning the Tables, Gia and her mom discussedher up-and-coming reality series,Next Gen NYC. She spoke about filming with her new cast, and got into some comparisons when it came to filming scenes about her family, versus filming with her friend group in New York. Almost immediately,it became clear that Gia has a certain resentment towardRHONJwhen it comes to the way her family business has aired out in public for nearly twenty years on Bravo. When Gia spoke about getting asked whether reality TV is “really real,” she responded with a hypothetical question: “Do you really think we would fake all this to our family?” She concluded by observing that these difficult times captured on camera were not “enjoyable” for her family.

Teresa seemed interested in quickly moving away from the topic of Gia finding filming about her family when she was a child “invasive,” “not enjoyable,” and “irritating.” But when Gia brought up hosting Dolores on her podcast, Teresa’s attention was fixed. As Gia described Dolores’ opinion that the reasonRHONJwas so toxic was that the women couldn’t let go of toxic grudges, Gia seemed inclined to agree, seemingly thinking it applied to some women on the cast, but not her mother. However, Teresa seemed to feel the need to hop in and defend the right to hold a grudge.

How Teresa and Melissa’s Explosive Feud Altered ‘The Real Housewives of New Jersey’ Forever

Season 10 sparked a new era of drama.

Teresa Still Refuses to Take Accountability, and That’s the Problem

When Gia started talking to her mom about their experience watching themselves appear on reality TV and learning about themselves from the experience, it started an interesting conversation. Gia and Teresa both agree that they learn more about being on reality TV each season as well, butmy problem with this sentiment is that Teresa seems to have missed the most important lesson from watching herself back each season. While Teresa always talks about the importance of family, she has never once in the history ofRHONJbeen able to let go of the grudge she holds against her sister-in-law, Melissa.
