But despite the wars, conflicts, and issues that these various survivor groups have, nothing can prepare the surviving humans for what’s about to come: a horde of infected. The Theme for ‘The Last Of Us’ Season 2 Has Changed
Season 1 ofThe Last of Usfeatured the theme of love, how it comes in different forms, whether paternal, familial, romantic, platonic, etc. and how it affects humans during times of hardship and loss. It also questions how far people would go for those they care about, whether lying to them, finding compromise, or self-sacrifice.
Season 2 also has a theme, according to an interview withDeadline. Co-showrunnerNeil Druckmannrevealed that Season 2 is about consequences, how Joel’s actions in Season 1 created a ripple effect, and how the time skip made people used to the situation to the point where their cockiness could lead to their hubris. Episode 1 teased the start of the domino effect, where one action leads to a reaction, and it’s only in later episodes that the outcome will be presented.
