One of thelongest-running anime seriesto date is being relaunched on a prominent American streamer at just the right time.Detective Conan, otherwise calledCase Closed, is that anime, and it finds its way toNetflixthis July, four years after it was removed from the streamer. Meanwhile,the series is already close to its30th anniversary, which is set for next year, as it premiered on July 26, 2025. Since then,it has ultimately run for 1,167 episodesso far, with weekly releases still ongoing in Japan.
While this may be a relaunch of sorts,a special collection ofDetective Conanepisodes will debut on Netflix starting Thursday, July 3, according to What’s on Netflix. TitledConan vs. The Black Organization, the installment centers on the anime’s infamous villains, and will be available with both English subtitles and an all-new English dub. Furthermore, as the outlet also noted,Netflix and Crunchyrollwill share streaming rights to these soon-to-launch episodes, which are “designed to spotlight key arcs for both longtime fans and newcomers” andwill include “entries that have never previously streamed stateside.”

Avid fans of this thrilling anime series may recall that in January 2016, 52episodes ofDetective Conanappeared on Netflix, initially under its original title before changing toCase Closed. The episodes were listed as Season One, although in reality, they are Episodes 748 to 799. Additionally, these episodes were only available in Japanese, but were subtitled; however, Netflix removed them later in January 2021. The streamer also picked up severalspin-offs, includingZero’s Tea Timein July 2022 andThe Cultprit Hanzawamost recently in February 2023.
