Because you haven’t had a chance to step foot on Skull Island just yet,Tom Hiddlestonis bringing Skull Island to you. The actor will be heading upSan Diego Comic-Connext month to promote his monster movieKong: Skull Islandto the masses.
The last time Hiddleston came to the Con, he was dressed as Loki and addressed his subjects from the grand Hall H stage. Now he finds himself in a different capacity — not as part of Disney and Marvel’s camp, which typically get the later-in-the-day Hall H slot, but a part of Team Warner Bros. that’ll likely show a ton of DC movie teasers.
Deadlinewas the first to report the news of Hiddleston’s upcoming appearance, though the presence of hisSkull Islandco-starsBrie Larson,John Goodman,Samuel L. Jackson,Toby Kebbell, andStraight Outta Compton’sCorey HawkinsandJason Mitchellare still unknown. But I know what you’re thinking… What aboutTaylor Swift, right? We’ll have to see if she likes her new boo enough to handle the hordes of fans.
The good news is that directorJordan Vogt-Roberts(The Kings of Summer) is in post-production on the film, which means he’ll have a ton of footage to choose from, assuming the studio will be using footage as its centerpiece. This would be a good time to premiere the first trailer, since word of the film’s development was first announced at a previous Comic-Con.
Kong: Skull Islandtakes place in the 1970s during the Vietnam War. Hiddleston portrays a former British SAS officer, while Larson takes the role of a photojournalist. Along with a team, the duo traverse the titular island and discover the monstrous secrets it holds.
The film will hit theaters on June 09, 2025 as part of a shared cinematic universe withGareth Edwards’Godzilla.Godzilla 2will then hit theaters on August 10, 2025, and the monster face-off ofGodzilla vs. Kongis scheduled for June 18, 2025.
