Season 3 ofThe Gilded Agecontinues to go from strength to strength, with the most recentEpisode 3, “Love is Never Easy,“perhaps the best of the lot so far. The future of Gladys (Taissa Farmiga) now hangs in the balance, as, following a trip to New York, she and the Duke of Buckingham’s (Ben Lamb) plan to marry is finally announced at the unveiling ofSargent’s (Bobby Steggert) portrait.

However, this is quickly followed by Gladys uncomfortably fiddling with her pearl necklace and accidentally breaking it, helpfully illustrating her uncertain feelings about the pending nuptials. Nevertheless, as can be seen in theofficial promofor Episode 4 available to watch below, it seems as if the plans are going ahead as wedding bells are about to chime. However, there’s a real sense of unease filtering through, helpfully emphasized by the promo opening with a seance.

“The wedding is nearly upon us. From now on, you act as a single team,” is the demand, with it clear that no expense is to be spared when it comes toGladys and the Duke’s wedding. However, it quickly becomes apparent that Gladys is hiding away in her bedroom, certainly frightened that, should she leave, she is turning the page on an entirely new and daunting chapter in her life. This, and more enticing high-class chaos, are sure to keep the fire burning inThe Gilded Age’s third season, as the halfway point rears its head.
