The news of the early renewal, while surprising, doesn’t come as a total shock, given the show’s immense popularity on the streaming platform. Wednesday Season 1 stands proud as the most-watched season of a Netflix show, making it the most popular Netflix original series of all time. The show has amassed 252.1 million views so far, and this number is expected to increase when Season 2 debuts itsfirst part on August 6.
The Hollywood Reporteralso posed the question of the show’s longevity, but the executive producer and actor did not have a definite answer. “You’re talking to two of the worst people to ask that question,” Burton said. However, co-creatorAlfred Goughrevealed that some top-secret conversations have been taking place, and there are potential spinoffs that could be in the works. “It’s something we’re definitely noodling; there are other characters we can look at,” he said. The sentiments were echoed by Netflix chief content officerBela Bajaria, who said, “There’s a lot to explore in the Addams Family.”
